TRE, Trauma
Release Exercise
Deep relaxation from the body's core
TRE, Trauma Release Exercises, is a method that helps to release and dissolve deep-seated tensions in a more profound and fundamental way than usual relaxation and tension-reduction techniques.
TRE can be described as deep relaxation from the body's core, where we can also work on dissolving emotional tensions, tensions caused by trauma, and also long-term stress.
TRE can help both in relation to muscle tension, pain, sleep problems, stress, inner turmoil, anxiety etc.
Trauma
Trauma is a life experience that can seem both overwhelming and unbearable. These experiences can be categorized as "hard trauma" or "soft trauma". Hard trauma is an easily identifiable event, such as a car accident, personal injury, serious injury, or a natural disaster, and is often easier to heal than soft trauma, which is less identifiable. Soft traumas are experiences such as long-term psychological or emotional abuse. These traumas can be more unconscious than obvious and physical. This type of abuse is often more difficult to identify but is no less traumatizing than severe trauma.
ALL TRAUMA AFFECTS THE PHYSICAL BODY
Any trauma, whether it occurs in a physiological, cognitive, emotional or interpersonal form, affects the physical body. The healing of trauma begins in the body. Since the body is an accurate history book of our experience in life, it is important that we include the body in the healing process.
Neurogenic tremor
This shaking and trembling has a name, neurogenic tremor. This is the body's way of channeling the bodily activity that is put into action as a result of perceived stress. We can see the same phenomenon in animals.
By initiating a neurogenic tremor, thereby releasing the neurological activity that is initiated as a result of perceived stress.
TRE and tremor regulation / release
TRE is an easy way to work with our tension-regulating mechanism because the method releases pent-up tension. Many relaxation techniques help us with bodily relaxation by giving way to tense muscles without removing the underlying cause of tension. This is important to know. At the same time, it is important to be able to work on a deeper level with the tensions. Through exercises and neurogenic tremors, TRE releases the tensions from within and removes one of the underlying physiological causes of muscle and emotional stuckness, and also mental tensions.
The body's natural
voltage regulating mechanisms
With TRE, we will facilitate the body's natural tension-regulating mechanisms. Most people have experienced that before, during or after a stressful or frightening experience they have started to tremble or have various other bodily sensations. This is expressed in statements such as; "I was so scared that my jaw was shaking", "my hands were shaking so much that the paper I was holding shook", "when I was going to give my speech I was so nervous that my knees were shaking", "I was so angry that I was shaking".
Blockings
This is natural for humans as well as animals to shake after various events, something that happens in several cultures spontaneously, for example after a birth. Unfortunately, many people today have lost the organic and natural relationship with this mechanism, which leads to us inhibiting ourselves in various ways. We may have been told as children not to cry, not to react too strongly, in addition to a number of other cultural limitations and restrictions on the body's spontaneous and natural expression.
This can lead to us being mentally distanced from our own bodies, and binds us. Children are more prone to this natural tremor, which can also occur in positive situations, not just negative ones.
MUSCLE CONTRACTIONS PROTECT THE BODY DURING TRAUMA
Trauma causes very deep muscle contractions designed to protect the body from injury or possible death during the traumatic episode. It is releasing this chronic tension pattern after the traumatic event is over. The contractions in these muscles must be resolved in order to be able to relax the body again and prevent the development of physical pain and limitations.
OUR NERVOUS SYSTEM RESOLVES TRAUMA REACTIONS
Once the trauma is over, the body's nervous system is designed to literally "shake out" deep muscle tension and help the body return to normal. This tremor produced by the nervous system, similar to that experienced during fear or anxiety, signals to the brain that the muscle tension should be stopped and return to a normal state of relaxation.
TOO MUCH FOCUS ON THE MENTAL DISTORTS THE SENSITIVITY OF THE BODY
Because of our focus on the mental, we have dampened this shaking mechanism to such an extent that it no longer reduces muscle tension so that we carry these with us in the body long after the trauma is over. In cases of repeated trauma experiences, the mind will command the body to freeze or numb immediately to reduce the inevitable pain of the next violent experience. This dissociative command from the brain overrides the shaking mechanism, which must eventually be restored for effective and lasting healing.
POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)
PTSD is a term used to explain the continuation of disturbing thoughts, moods and feelings that persist even after the trauma is over.
POST-TRAUMA REACTIONS CAPTURE US TO RE-EXPERIENCE THE EXPERIENCE ITSELF
Because the experience is overwhelming both emotionally and physiologically, the body stores the memories, thoughts and feelings of the trauma to process them at a later time. The high chemical charge left in the body after trauma continuously seeks ways of discharge. When we never allow this excessive charge to have an outlet, this can lead to intense emotions such as hatred, rage, shame, etc... or ideas such as revenge, mistrust or negative ideologies.
UNHEALED TRAUMA CREATES REPETITIVE BEHAVIOR THAT IS NOT PURPOSEFUL
PTSD is caused by a lack of release of high tension or anxiety (biochemical energy) that was generated at the time the traumatic event took place. The body continues to seek an outlet for this overstimulation, and the brain is constantly unconsciously creating situations similar to the original trauma. This is the mind's attempt to replay the trauma scenario in hopes of releasing the energy so that the victim can become the survivor.
